Pizza Math – Diabetes 365, Year 2 – Day 68

By Courtney | No Rookie Marks »

It’s always difficult to count the carbs for pizza and then to figure out how I want to take my insulin such that I maintain normal numbers for hours after I’ve eaten it. Pizza is probably the hardest food to calculate insulin for and to know how to give it. I rarely have pizza simply because of the consequences of it and the effects that it has on my blood sugar.

When I decided to have pizza for dinner because I was craving it, I had a frozen pizza and I sat down and figured out how many carbs was in the portion I was going to eat.
