Courtney,
Fantastic insights. I too also feel that death sometimes is a better option than failure. Having two people who I am very responsible for counting on me all the time. I know that is really not fair since Allison works but I want her to have all the time in the world that she wants with Eva. So I work as hard as I can for us to have a good life.

I have to say I needed to read though this and I'm right now waiting for the speech to load. I think we all are afraid of failure, but she is right we do learn from it and survive it to be stronger people.

Hi Erica, I'll have to look into Al Franken's and Conan O'Brien's speeches. One I did find on Youtube was from last years morning exercises, it was a latin student and he compared the students and their experiences in school to Star Wars, it was rather amusing :)

So I read her speech, too (I'm actually a Harvard grad, so I like to read the speeches every year - they usually have really interesting people speak at Commencement).

Overall, I was impressed. I thought it was better than I expected. You should go back and read Al Franken's or Conan O'Brien's from previous years - really funny!
