You’re gonna to rip yourself a new one

By Courtney | 2 Rookie Marks »

At lunch today, I decided I didn’t have time for a walk, so I told my co-worker we would run the usually walked mile. We didn’t get far running. With each stride as my right leg extended forward and my back leg moved behind me I could feel a god awful pain. I only maybe ran a quarter of a mile before she said “you’re gonna rip yourself a new one” and we stopped.

I just kindof rolled my eyes and made a joke of it. “Oh hey Courtney, you’re bleeding in an unusual spot.” “Oh yeah, that, I ripped myself a new one”

Which of course had us giggling. But even though I was laughing, I was sad. I can’t run, I can’t bike, and I can’t swim. I can’t train for what matters (read: triathlon) I can still train, upper body strength training, hand cycle for cardio, but blah. It hurts just to go walk a mile. I’m not a happy camper. And to think that when my gaping festering wound is finally fixed, I’ve got to chill for at least a month, and that’s killing me. I just want to get on my bike again, it’s been a week and a half and I miss it. I had swim lessons lined up and now I’m forbidden to go into water, I can only shower. And running, well, I could do that, if I didn’t have a gaping hole at the bottom of my tail bone between my cheeks.

The doctor did say that I could swim once the top part of the wound is closed, but I couldn’t run or cycle until all the cow collagen has disintegrated and my own skin has rebuilt and filled in the existing cavern that caused all this pain. It’s a real pain in the ass, let me tell you.
