B is For Bodacious
bo·da·cious [boh-dey-shuhs]
–adjective
1. incorrigible
2. audacious; bold or brazen; unrestrained by convention or propriety
Bodacious, when I hear that word it’s something that I can hear a surfer saying “that’s bodacious” or “bodacious DUDE!” I think as a child I may have spurted the word bodacious from my mouth a couple times, if I had to say where I picked it up from, it was probably from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon that I watched as a young child.
I think for me though, when you really look at the word and it’s meaning, incorrigible nails it (or unrestrained by convention).
in·cor·ri·gi·ble [in-kawr-i-juh-buhl, -kor-]
–adjective
1. impervious to constraints or punishment; willful; unruly; uncontrollable
2. firmly fixed; not easily changed
3. not easily swayed or influenced
So, me, bodacious. Yes, I can’t deny it. Where should I start explaining how well this word fits me.
Shall we pick it apart a little? Sure, why not, let’s start at the top, incorrigible, how about my strong headed strong willed, I’ve made up my mind and I’m doing it regardless of whatever may happen attitude. I kindof pay no attention to anything around me when it comes to what I want to do. And yes, it can be seen as unruly or uncontrollable, but if I had to say (and I do) it’s what makes me fun. Here’s an example, I was at Disney World in February, it was a bonus to me going out there for the Orlando, FL Tour de Cure. There were apparently signs all over the place saying “DO NOT CLIMB” but do you think I ever saw one of those signs, no, not until after I had already climbed on whatever it was I wasn’t to climb on, and by then it was too late. (I can’t help it, I have this thing about statues, they need to be climbed on. See above picture and notice the little sign in the bottom left hand corner.)
Brazen, that’s a word that was thrown out when I was looking for a “b” word that defines me. I’m very bold and there is no shame.
I think there’s a good story to accompany this idea of “brazen”. It all goes back, (well maybe not all of it, but this story goes back) to Vegas (where if you’re with blogger’s, what happens in vegas doesn’t stay in vegas.) In November I went to Vegas for PostieCon and at PostieCon, there was an epic CakePlow.
After the CakePlow, Mr. Fab had a large chunk of cake on his face, I decided that I wanted a bite of it. And what started as a bite, became a chanting of “do it again.” Who am I to not do something again, it wasn’t harming anyone, and the cake was tasty (my favorite kind of sheet cake, white cake with butter cream frosting, mmmmm)
It was that act right there that earned me the title of “brazen”. More often that not, I’ll just get out there and do stuff.
Ok, maybe I’m not spot on with defining how well the word bodacious fits me, but other people would say, “it’s spot on!” I guess you just have to spend time with me to find out just how exactly bodacious I am.
